nothing is outside of ..
I have been done some serious grappling with the concept of whether or not God is in control. If he is, in light of the things that I have seen over the last few months what does that say about His character... ie is He good?
I stumbled across a scripture in the NET version of the bible, which I had managed to download onto my phone. Anyway it struck me like a slap.
..he left nothing outside of his control. At present we do not yet see all things under his control.. (a bit of heb 2 v 8)
The NIV that I normally read has "subject to him" instead of control so I probably would have missed it. I realised that this scripture was answering my philosophical questioning.
If God is all powerful and in control of everything then why all the carnage? This Scipture confirms to me that while not everything is under his control there is nothing that is outside of his control.
The text is immediately followed with a but and it is an important one, see heb 2 v 9for some context (online http://www.bible.org/netbible/index.htm)
